Skipping the line at the Eiffel Tower

There is no VIP fast-track for standard tickets, but there are several strategies to spend less time queueing.

1. Pre-book a timed lift ticket

This is the single most effective step. Timed elevator tickets from toureiffel.paris come with a specific slot; you queue only for security screening, not for the elevator itself. Aim to arrive 30 minutes before the slot to clear security comfortably.

2. Take the stairs

Stairs tickets typically have a much shorter queue than elevator tickets, especially in the middle of the day. The 674 steps to the second floor take a reasonably fit adult 15–25 minutes. Once at the second floor you can buy a summit-elevator supplement on site if space is available.

3. Come very early or very late

The two quietest windows are the first hour after opening (roughly 09:30–10:30) and the last two hours before closing. Middle-of-the-day slots between 11:00 and 16:00 in high season are the busiest.

4. Dinner tickets bypass the general queue

Diners at Le Jules Verne (2nd floor) and Madame Brasserie (1st floor) use a dedicated entrance and elevator. If your budget stretches to it, a dinner reservation is effectively a "skip the line" ticket that includes a meal (see the restaurants page).

5. Avoid third-party "skip the line" offers

Many travel sites resell official timed tickets at a premium and call the timed slot "skip the line." You can buy exactly the same ticket for the official price, on the official site. When a site claims access outside the official ticket categories, it is almost certainly reselling with a markup — or, in some cases, selling a non-transferable ticket that will be refused at the gate.

Bottom line

Book a timed elevator ticket well in advance from the official website, choose an off-peak slot, and arrive early for security. That is the practical maximum for saving queue time without paying restaurant prices.
